August 13, 14 Update

Carrick has been doing well. The doctor wrote the order for him to be fed eight bottles today. It will take a few days for him to get it, but this means he may come home without a feeding tube. They are also trying harder to wean him off of his oxygen support but it is not going well. He is still on 1 liter flow. That means he has one liter of oxygen blowing in his nose every second. He was moved down to a half liter flow this morning and then up to three quarters of a liter and he could not handle either. While Will and I were visiting with him this morning at eleven, his oxygen saturation was low and he was continually dropping and coming back up. That is how he was recovering from having his flow changed. So you can see the little problem we have here. He's just stuck on one liter, it seems. We will see what the doctor wants to do. Carrick is still having reflux problems after every feeding as well. He's taking prevacid for that and I hope it's working. No weight gain either, since we last posted. His time for coming home is drawing nearer and Will and I have quite a bit to do to prepare for it. We have to spend one night at the hospital in a "nesting room" where we take care of him entirely and the nurse just comes to check on us every three hours. We will do that next Wednesday night. Thanks for your continued prayers. More to come.
