June 19 Update
Carrick's nose is having some trouble with the CPAP. The inside of his nostrils is irritated and beginning to break down so they put him on the "highflow" breathing machine. It's the next step down. It looks like what you see in the movies and stuff--a thin clear tube with thin prongs in the nose. He stayed on that for an hour before they had to put him back on the CPAP. It's just too early. But his nose got a small break. Everything else is the same. They were going to try to switch between the highflow and CPAP every few hours, but he didn't do well enough on the highflow. They're going to keep a close eye on his nose now. His feeding is still at 8cc/hour. Jenni and I did the math and he's eating 6.4 oz a day. They gave him some pain medicine before we left to calm him down so he could sleep. He's had a rough night. But he's up to 3 lbs 2 oz. More to come.
