June 4 Update
Carrick is officially off the ventilator and on CPAP! Yeah! He was put on CPAP this afternoon. The pressure setting is at 8, which is pretty high. His oxygen level was at about 50% when we left tonight. Remember that the CPAP keeps his airways open, but allows him to breathe more on his own. One of the nurses likened being on the CPAP to putting your head out of a car window while traveling at 100mph. And now his lungs can begin to heal! It’s just a great thing to be off the ventilator. Depending on how stable he is we can begin holding him, but only if he has a good day. But Carrick has to wear a pink hat with the CPAP; not a very manly color. Each size is a different color and his head size is pink. We could hear him making little noises tonight. It was the best! Coming off the ventilator is the biggest thing that happened today, but his feedings did go up to 4cc an hour. He’s doing a great job digesting his milk! Progress is the word for this week. He’s even up to 2 lb 10 oz. Our little man is having a good week. And tomorrow at 5:17pm he’ll be 6 weeks old. Thank you for praying him through this far, and we ask that you would continue. More to come.

Praise God for Carrick's transition to the CPAP! He is definitely continuing to answer our prayers. My prayer today is that you get to hold that little guy tonight! Pink may be Carrick's color of choice today, but I bet gecko green will end up being his fave color :)
Love you!
