July 14 Update
Carrick had to go back lasix today. Lasix is a type of diuretic that pulls extra moisture off of his lungs somehow. The doctor said he's doing better now that he has been put back on the high-flow but it seems as though he just wants to stay where he is. Lasix should help so that hopefully by the end of the week, he can get back on track and start progressing again. Now that he is 36 weeks (corrected gestation), it's important for him to wean off air support. His feedings have been increased to 12ccs an hour because he needs more calories. He burns a lot from working so hard to breathe. Which reminds me; our little man weighs 4 lbs 13oz! Well, never mind though, because then he had a diaper that weighed 2 oz. There's not even any mention of beginning to bottle feed, right now. He has to be doing that for all his feedings before he can come home. Will and I are just so exhausted right now and a little depressed. I get tired of always messing with tubes and looking at tape on his face. I'm sick of worrying about oxygen saturations and reflux. I'm struggling with anger at all the new moms we see taking home their normal babies. And there is absolutely nothing we can do to bring him home sooner. We know that God is good and we see how much he has blessed us; we're just so weighed down right now with longing and waiting. Thanks for continuing to pray for us and for him. Soon, we will speak about this time like it was so long ago.

Still praying for y'all. I can't imagine how draining all this must be, how simply exhausting to take care of your own baby when you have to travel to and from somewhere other than your home. But Jenni you were right--I know that soon it WILL seem like all this was forever ago. Praying and hoping for that day! We love you three very much.
And by the way, those hair pictures couldn't be any cuter! Little man looks GOOD in a faux-hawk!
Jenni & Will,
Please know that we are here for you and that we are praying for you. We know that you are tired and anxious to get him home. But it is all in God's perfect timing. Take a deep breath and keep on doing what you are doing. God loves you all very much and so do we.
Love,
Mom
