July 21 Update
Today Carrick sucked 24cc out of a bottle; that's almost one ounce! Then tonight, he managed another 20cc out of his bottle! The doctor put him on 2 bottles a day today because he needs to learn to bottle feed and come home. Carrick still needs more oxygen support during bottle feedings, but he managed 2 bottles! His bowels remain on the fritz so they gave him another sepository last night. Oh, and it just so happens that Jenni fed Carrick his bottle tonight! She was great! It felt so natural to watch her do a real mom thing. Jenni and I cherish those moments, when we get to do normal parent things, because then it's like we're not trapped in a hospital being watched by 2 nurses while we feed our son. Carrick is trying his best to come home. All we have to do is endure a little longer. Thank you for your prayers and support. More to come.

This is Kara (Smith) Mitchell from First Baptist Nashville. I've been keeping up with your family's blog for these weeks and am thrilled to see Carrick's progress. You will continue to be in my prayers as you prepare to take your precious son home. I hope that day comes soon! You will be wonderful parents!
