July 22 Update
The doctor ordered Carrick to be on two bottles today but he only took one. Will tried to feed him this morning but the minute he pulled him out of the crib and put him in his arms, he fell fast asleep. We tried for about ten minutes to get him to wake up and take it. He just made it very clear that he was too tired. In fact, he was so comfortable that Will just left him in the "football hold" and let him sleep for awhile. We tried again tonight during our visit and Carrick sucked more than an ounce out of the bottle! Toward the end, I think he actually figured out the suck-breathe-swallow routine! Maybe he will still remember it for tomorrow. Learning to bottle feed is not easy. But he's on his way. Slowly, but he's getting there. Please keep praying for us and for Carrick. We still have quite a way to go.

It is amazing how much we take for granted and think how simple the ability to bottle feed is. Carrick is learning to do so many things. Way to go little man!
Love,
Grandma
