Sept. 13 Update

Today is Carrick's last home nurse visit--Yeah! Not that we don't appreciate home nurses, but this is just one more step to normalcy. Carrick is doing great on all fronts, in fact, he may being gaining too much weight too quickly. We have to call the doctor and ask if we need to switch his formula down to a lower calorie count. We mix it differently to add more calories now. So that is exciting! He might be doing too well! Carrick is making happy noises every day now, also. We're attempting to put Carrick on a schedule to help him adjust to a normal life, instead of being stuck on the hospital schedule for the rest of his life. It's already beginning to work! He slept 5 hours last night, and is beginning to adjust to play time and nap time. Since Carrick will probably be on oxygen for another month, we had to order the BIG tank. It's 5 feet tall and very thick. It makes a nice addition to his other equipment; we have 5 oxygen tanks in 3 different sizes. Carrick is holding his head up more and more and can hold it up and turn it from side to side on his stomach with ease now. He also enjoyed his whole bath experience for the first time last night! It used to be that we had good news and then bad news a few times and then another good thing, but then came another bad thing along with more bad. But now it's just been good thing after good thing! It's great to be a normal parent with an almost normal kid. He still has a lovely equipment entourage, but it's not so bad. Sorry we haven't updated in a week. I finally fixed our computer this morning--drama. I won't get into it but after many attempts by a few people I got it to work right. So we should be more regular now: every few days or so. More good things to come.
