April 30 Update 1
Last night was a rough night for Carrick. He was on pain medicine most of yesterday. He developed some kind of leak in his trachea with his breathing tube. After bringing over the Respiratory Therapist the nurse had to call the doctor after Carrick's heart rate dropped. They sent us out of the room. All the parents can imagine what that did to Jenni and me. But the doctor put in a new breathing tube and his heart rate came back up. They left him alone after that. He was tired. It's hard to watch him when he's crying; you can't hear him because of the breathing tube. You can just see his little face crying and contorting. All the nurses say he's feisty. Everything else is the same.
His head ultrasound is today. The nurse told us the results will probably take a day to come back. Our little guy is resilient. He's been alive 6 whole days by the hospital's count; they count the moment of birth as day 1. Thanks for all the prayers. Keep 'em comin'!
